PSX Closing Bell: Frozen in Time

March 11, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan stock market ended the day little changed, with traders unwilling to take on risks ahead of the monetary policy meeting.

The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Monday's trading session at 65,755.31 showing a decrease of 38.45 points or 0.06%.

The index traded in a range of 420.58 points showing an intraday high of 66,119.34 (+325.58) and a low of 65,698.76 (-95.00) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 251.628 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 58 closed up, 36 closed down, 1 was unchanged, while 5 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 112.22, Commercial Banks with 64.93, Miscellaneous with 41.34, Food & Personal Care Products with 22.95, and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 20.31 points.

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution with 34.92, Pharmaceuticals with 33.73, Cement with 30.3, Technology & Communication with 18.79, and Automobile Assembler with 18.07 points.

Companies that dragged the index lower were DAWH with 110.29, PSEL with 38.1, NESTLE with 33.01, MCB with 28.26 and ENGRO with 26.3 points.

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were HUBC with 42.88, MTL with 18.78, FFC with 18.33, PTC with 18.07, and LUCK with 13.76 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,707.91 with a net gain of 30.80 points.

Total market volume was 548.765 million shares compared to 481.704 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs16.61 billion showing a decrease of Rs0.42bn.

There were 217,647 trades reported in 355 companies with 220 closing up, 116 closing down and 19 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 24,303 points or 58.63% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 3,304 points, equivalent to 5.29%.

Last week, the index had gained 468 points or 0.72%.
