POL prices surged by up to Rs8.82 per litre

October 1, 2021 (MLN): The government on Thursday decided to increase the price of petroleum products by up to Rs8.82 per litre owing to the fluctuations in Petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variation in the last fortnight.

According to a notice issued by Finance Division, the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) worked out the higher petroleum prices but Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided against the recommendation and passed on the minimum increase in prices to the consumers.

The government absorbed the higher international pressure of prices through a reduction in the petroleum levy and the sales tax.

It is pertinent to mention that petroleum prices in Pakistan are the cheapest in the region, the notification added.

The prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) have moved up by Rs4 and Rs2 per litre, respectively. While the prices of Kerosene Oil and Light Diesel Oil enhanced by Rs7.05 and Rs8.82 per litre.

The new prices of Petrol, HSD, Kerosine oil, and Light diesel now stand Rs 127.30, Rs122.04, Rs99.31, and Rs99.51 per litre respectively.

The new prices are effective from Today, October 1, 2021, for the next fifteen days.
