PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasizes enhanced trade ties with Turkey for $5bn target

March 13, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan and Turkey need to enhance their bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest including trade, defense, connectivity, and culture to achieve the bilateral trade target of $5 billion, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stated during a telephone call with Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mehmet Pacaci.

The newly elected PM emphasized that Pakistan and Turkiye enjoyed exemplary bilateral relations that were based on shared history, religion and culture and were unshakeable.

In this regard, he congratulated Turkiye on the successful flight of KAAN 5th generation fighter aircraft.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support to Turkiye on the issue of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

He said the people of Pakistan looked forward to the visit which would also provide a useful opportunity for both sides to carry out extensive consultations during the 7th session of the High-Level Strategic Coordination Council (HLSCC).
