PKR weakens by 60 paisa to 158.22 against USD

June 28, 2021 (MLN): After the previous session’s gains, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 60 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 158.22 per USD.

On Friday, the home unit had closed at PKR 157.62 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 60 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 158.30 and an intraday Low offer of 157.80.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 157.80/158.50 per USD.

As per the data compiled by Mettis Global, the local unit has so far gained 6.22% or PKR9.83 while the appreciation has been 1.02% or PKR1.62 in CY21. The month-to-date (MTD) position showed a decrease of 2.41%.

Meanwhile, the currency lost 1.1 rupees to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 220.36 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 219.21 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value weakened by 73 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 188.96 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 7.15/7.25 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 7.05/7.10 percent.
