Pakistan to approach IMF with a comprehensive energy plan: Energy Minister

March 14, 2024 (MLN): Emphasizing a departure from piecemeal strategies, the newly elected energy minister Dr. Musadiq Masood Malik on Thursday assured that the new government would approach the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with a thoroughly prepared plan to solve the crises of the energy sector.

According to a press statement issued today, the energy minister made these remarks during a productive meeting with the French Deputy Head of Mission (Guillaume Dabouis) to discuss potential avenues of collaboration in Pakistan's energy sector.

Talking further on the issues related to the energy sector, he highlighted the importance of stakeholder consultations to ensure that any agreements made with the IMF align with the best interests of the Pakistani people.

Underlining the government's broader economic reform agenda, the minister reaffirmed the Prime Minister's unwavering commitment to overhaul key sectors, including Energy, Finance, Commerce, Industries & Production, and Communication.
