Jan 2023 Cement dispatches in Pakistan up by 1.15%, Exports decline by 24.13%

February 03, 2023 (MLN): Cement dispatches in January 2023 increased by 1.15% to 4.005 million tons, according to data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association.

Local cement dispatches rose by 5.24% to 3.587mn tons, while exports declined by 24.13% to 418,067 tons.

North-based cement mills dispatched 2.892mn tons, a 6.08% increase, while south-based mills dispatched 1.113mn tons, a 9.74% decrease.

During the first seven months of the current fiscal year, total cement dispatches fell 17.97% to 25.769mn tons, with domestic dispatches down 14.04% and exports declining 45.40%.

The spokesman for the All-Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association attributed the decline to political instability and issues with opening letters of credit for necessary supplies.
