HBL Zarai Services, UAF ink agreement to boost agriculture sector

February 13, 2023 (MLN): Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Zarai Services and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Monday signed an agreement to promote Academia-Industry Relations.

As per the agreement, HBL Zarai Services will develop Farm Research & Excellence Centers across Punjab on the land provided by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad by integrating the concept of HBL Zarai Dera to promote sustainable agriculture.

The objective of the strategic cooperation is to implement joint efforts to increase productivity through innovative research, sustainable agricultural practices, and production in line with international standards.

Additionally, this collaboration will involve university faculty members in various research projects, provide training to university students, and foster project-based internship facilities.

It will introduce financial inclusion technologies and farmer digital inclusion programs for further enhancement.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Professor Dr. Iqar Ahmed Khan said that these "Farm Research and Excellence Centers" will play an important role in promoting modern agricultural practices in Punjab.

He said that agriculture is facing enormous challenges to ensure the attainment of food self-sufficiency and to make agriculture a profitable profession. The nutritional needs of the population can be met
