Foreign investors buy Rs6.81bn worth of securities in a week via SCRA

February 02, 2024 (MLN): Foreign investors remained net buyers via SCRA for the second consecutive week as the net purchase of securities for the week ended January 26, 2024, clocked in at Rs6.81 billion, according to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan.

It is crucial to emphasize that last week marked the highest net purchase of securities through SCRA since February 14, 2020, amounting to Rs18.56bn.

During the week, the gross sale of securities was recorded at Rs12.35bn, which is around 3.42% higher than the figures recorded last week.

Similarly, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs19.16bn, which is 37.71% lower than the prior week, resulting in a net purchase of Rs6.81bn for the week.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities decreased by Rs11.6bn while the net sale of securities increased by Rs408.3m.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs10.36bn, while its outflow has been reported at Rs2.49bn.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs25.74bn, which marks a rise of Rs1.22bn over the week.
