Closing Bell: Benchmark index falls off the fence!

January 15, 2020 (MLN): Following a befuddling performance by the KSE-100 index in the previous two days, the benchmark index finally settled in the red district as it lost nearly 214 points and closed at 42,993-mark.

The Index traded in a range of 363.16 points or 0.84 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 43,241.05 and a low of 42,877.89.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 30 closed up 61 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 119.95 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 53 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 40 points, Fertilizer with 25 points, Miscellaneous with 23 points and Commercial Banks with 21 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HUBC which stripped the index of 35 points followed by PPL with 27 points, PSEL with 23 points, DAWH with 14 points and POL with 12 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Tobacco with 13 points, Cement with 10 points, Insurance with 8 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 2 points and Real Estate Investment Trust with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by MCB which contributed 18 points followed by PAKT with 7 points, DGKC with 7 points, AICL with 7 points and FML with 6 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 78.41 Million to 171.26 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.21.89 Billion.

Total companies traded were 364 compared to 376 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 120 closed up, 224 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 22,522 to 61,424.

Value Traded decreased by 1.68 Billion to Rs.6.12 Billion
