Banks’ deposits increase by 18% YoY to Rs26.4tr in October

November 10, 2023 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 17.78% YoY to Rs26.4 trillion in October 2023 compared to Rs22.41tr in October 2022.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks’ deposits have edged higher by 0.3% MoM, compared to Rs26.32tr in September 2023.

Total advances increased by 7.65% to Rs11.9tr compared to Rs11.05tr from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 0.34% from their value of Rs11.86tr in September 2023.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 45.07% showing a decrease of 424 bps on a yearly basis, while showing an increase of 2 bps on a monthly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs23.23tr compared to Rs18.29tr from a year ago and Rs22.62tr from a month ago, showing a YoY increase of 27.05% and a MoM increase of 2.7%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 642 bps to 88.01% compared to October 2022 and increased by 205 bps when compared to a month ago.
