April 13, 2022 (MLN): The capital market on Wednesday witnessed a volatile trading session as the benchmark KSE-100 Index traded in a range of 581.46 points, observing an intraday high of 46,643.04 and a low of 46,061.58.
Local indices witnessed mixed sentiments throughout the trading session owing to the possibility of Pakistan hitting the record fiscal deficit of Rs5.6tn in FY22, coupled with deadlock that might happen with IMF in case of any delay or any stringent condition put forward by the fund, the post-closing note by Aba Ali Habib Securities said.
Accordingly, the KSE-100 index ended the session at 46,165.50 while losing 241.76 points.
Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 25 closed up 69 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 146.43 million shares.
Sector-wise, the index was let down by Cement with 93 points, Commercial Banks with 63 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 16 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 16 points and Engineering with 16 points.
The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 35 points followed by UBL with 30 points, BAHL with 14 points, AGP with 13 points and MLCF with 11 points.
Sectors propping up the index were Power Generation & Distribution with 15 points, Tobacco with 9 points, Automobile Assembler with 7 points, Chemical with 4 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 3 points.
The most points added to the index was by HUBC which contributed 16 points followed by MTL with 14 points, SEARL with 13 points, PAKT with 9 points and MEBL with 8 points.
All Share Volume decreased by 19.01 Million to 474.59 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.43.52 Billion.
Total companies traded were 362 compared to 359 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 114 closed up, 228 closed down while 20 remained unchanged.
Total trades increased by 5,604 to 148,978.
