PSX Closing Bell: Eye of the Tiger

July 11, 2023 (MLN): Riding the upward trail, the benchmark KSE-100 Index crossed the psychological level of 45,000 points during Tuesday's trading session, adding 570.67 points to close the session at 45,155.79. 

The index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 45,250.48.

The positive news flow in recent days has sparked investors' confidence as the KSE-100 has gained a staggering 3,703.11pts in just the last seven trading sessions.

Earlier today, Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Ishaq Dar informed while addressing a press conference that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has received a $2 billion deposit from Saudi Arabia.

Yesterday, Fitch Ratings upgraded Pakistan's Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to 'CCC' from 'CCC-'.

Last month, Pakistani authorities managed to clinch the long-standing staff-level agreement with the IMF on a $3 billion nine-month SBA.

The total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 248.171 million shares, the highest since October 05, 2022

Of the 100 index companies 72 closed up, 22 closed down while 6 remained untraded.

The KSE100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 189.03, Cement with 97.58, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 69.66, Food & Personal Care Products with 43.85 and Chemicals with 36.12 points.

Companies adding points to the index were MEBL with 64.03, BAHL with 55.34, MCB with 33.87, LUCK with 31.42 and PPL with 30.17 points.

KSE100 Index was let down by Technology & Communication with 16.77, Power Generation & Distribution with 2.55, Property with 2.37, Close-End Mutual Fund with 1.04 and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 0.49 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were TRG with 17.89, ENGRO with 11.56, BAFL with 8.32, PSEL with 6.94 and HUBC with 6.28 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 30,211.24 with a net gain of 390.08 points.

Total market volume was 555.1 million shares compared to 440.221 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at 15.49 billion showing an increase of Rs.3.4 billion.

There were 206,846 trades reported in 356 companies with 252 closing up, 86 closing down and 18 remaining unchanged.
