Pakistan’s Yearly inflation at 11.04 Percent in October

November 06, 2019 (MLN): Pakistan's Yearly Inflation Rate (New Base 2015-16) in October 2019 was 11.04 percent compared to 11.37 percent in September 2019 and 6.5 percent in October 2018.

The July-October average inflation is 10.34 percent compared to 6.20 percent from the corresponding period last year.

Market Expectation of Inflation for October was between 10.50 % and 10.07% with an average estimate of 10.23%.

On a monthly basis, CPI increased by 1.82 percent in October compared to 0.80 percent in September.

Market expectation of Monthly change was between 1.30% and 0.88% with the average estimate at 1.05%.

Keeping in view the recent developments, the CPI included Urban and Rural Price Index, where urban inflation (UCPI) stood at 10.9% YoY versus a higher 11.3% YoY rural inflation (RPI) in October 2019.  

SPI inflation on YoY increased by 11.3% YoY in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 11.1% a month earlier and an increase of 5.7% in October 2018. On MoM basis, it increased by 2.2% in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.8% a month earlier and an increase of 2.0% in October 2018.

WPI inflation increased by 13.2% YoY in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 15.9% YoY a month earlier and an increase of 18.6% YoY in October 2018. On MoM basis, WPI inflation increased by 2% in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.1% a month earlier and an increase of 4.4% in the corresponding month of last year i.e. October 2018.

Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy Urban CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 7.7% on YoY basis in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 8.4% in the previous month and 7.5% in October 2018. On MoM basis, it increased by 0.5% in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.4% in previous month, and an increase of 1.2% in the corresponding month of last year i.e. October 2018.

Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy Rural CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 8.6% on YoY basis in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 8.8% in the previous month and 6.7% in October 2018. On MoM basis, it increased by 0.7% in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.3% in the previous month, and an increase of 1.0% in the corresponding month of last year i.e. October 2018.

Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean Urban CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 8.9% on (YoY) basis in October 2019 as compared to 9.3% in the previous month and by 7.1% in October 2018. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.5% in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.6% in the previous month and an increase of 1.1% in the corresponding month of last year i.e. October 2018.

Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean Rural CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 9.4% on (YoY) basis in October 2019 as compared to 9.6% in the previous month and by 6.7% in October 2018. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.7% in October 2019 as compared to an increase of 0.6% in the previous month and an increase of 0.9% in the corresponding month of last year i.e. October 2018.
