January 17, 2020 (MLN): Foreign investment in Treasury Bills has crossed $500 million mark for the first time in a single session on January 16, with the overall investment ultimately settling at $536 million.
According to the data compiled by the State bank of Pakistan, foreign inflows of $457 million came from United Kingdom and $80 million from the United States.
On the contrary, inflows in government bonds from July 1, 2019 to January 16, 2020 amounted to $2.233 billion. Within the same time period, the inflows from US stood at around $1.381 billion and from UK at $815 million.
