Banks’ deposits increase by 15% YoY to Rs26.3tr in September: SBP

October 16, 2023 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 15.1% YoY to Rs26.273 trillion in September 2023 compared to Rs22.82 tr in September 2022.

According to data released by the SBP, Banks' deposits have edged higher by 0.6% MoM, compared to Rs26.11 tr in August 2023.

Total advances increased by 7% to Rs11.86 tr compared to Rs11.08 from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances increased by 0.8% from its values of Rs11.77 tr in August 2023.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 45.2% showing an increase of 6 bps on a monthly basis and a decrease of 341 bps on a yearly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs22.6tr compared to Rs22.02tr from a month ago and Rs17.5tr from a year ago, showing a MoM increase of 2.7% and a YoY increase of 29.3%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 171 bps to 86% compared to August 2023 and increased by 942 bps when compared to a year ago.
