PKR depreciates by 20 paisa at interbank trade

July 16, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 20 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 160.06 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 159.86 per USD.

The rupee endured a volatile trading session with quotes being recorded in a range of 1.30 rupees per USD showing an intraday high bid of 161.00 and an intraday Low offer of 160.00.

Alternatively, the currency gained 1.32 rupees against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 199.39 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 200.71 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value strengthened by 31 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 179.9 at the interbank today.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 160/162 per USD.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 11.75/12.00 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 12.25/12.35 percent.
