Yearly Inflation at 4.02 Percent in February

The PBS released the Inflation figures for February, following is the summary of their release.

  • CPI inflation, General increased by 4.0% on year-on-year basis in February 2016 as compared to an increase 3.3% in the previous month and 3.2% in February 2015. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.3% in February 2016 as compared to increase of 0.2% in the previous month and decrease of 0.9% in February 2015.
  • Core inflation measured by non-food non-energy CPI (Core NFNE) increased by 4.5% on (YoY) basis in February 2016 as compared to increase 4.3% in the previous month and 6.2% in February 2015. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.2% in February 2016 as compared to increase of 0.9% in the previous month and 0.0% in February 2015.
  • Core inflation, measured by 20% weighted trimmed mean CPI (Core Trimmed) increased by 3.6% on (YoY) basis in February 2016 as compared to 3.0% in the previous month and by 4.2% in February 2015. On (MoM) basis, it increased by 0.1% in February 2016 as compared to increase of 0.6% in the previous month and decrease of 0.2% in February 2015.
  • SPI inflation on YoY increased by 3.6% in February 2016 as compared to increase of 3.1% a month earlier and an increase of 0.2% in February 2015. On MoM basis, it decreased by 0.5% in February 2016 as compared to a decrease of 0.7% a month earlier and decrease of 1.0% in February 2015.
  • WPI inflation on YoY basis increased by 0.6% in February 2016 as compared to increase of 0.1% a month earlier and a decrease of 3.4% in February 2015. WPI inflation on MoM basis decreased by 0.6% in February 2016 as compared to decrease of 0.5% a month earlier and decrease of 1.1% in February 2015.
