PSX Closing Bell: No Rain…

October 1, 2021 (MLN): After yesterday’s strong rally, the trading activity within capital markets remained mixed today as the benchmarks 100 index moved sideways in a range of 404 points, witnessing an intraday high of 45,002.34 points and an intraday low of 44,597.90 points, closing the last session of the week in consolidation.

The KSE-100 index was concluded at 44,871.70 points, only 28 points lower than yesterday’s closing.

The major event that impacted market sentiments during the trade was the FBR record revenue collection of Rs1,395 billion for the first quarter of current FY 2021-22. On the other hand, the total liquid foreign reserves held by the country declined by $251.8mn to stand at $26,150.8mn on 24-September-2021 that also affected investors' confidence.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 57 closed up 39 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 111.35 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Cement with 52 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 29 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 17 points, Glass & Ceramics with 17 points and Technology & Communication with 14 points.

The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 28 points followed by KEL with 25 points, MCB with 19 points, TRG with 17 points and GHGL with 17 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Chemical with 28 points, Engineering with 22 points, Pharmaceuticals with 18 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 15 points and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 13 points.

The most points added to the index was by SNGP which contributed 17 points followed by COLG with 16 points, HBL with 13 points, AVN with 11 points and EPCL with 10 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 105.38 Million to 267.05 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.3.90 Billion.

Total companies traded were 561 compared to 557 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 368 closed up, 178 closed down while 15 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 13,460 to 106,838.

Value Traded decreased by 4.74 Billion to Rs.9.02 Billion
