KSE-100 up by 2.50 percent, highest percentage gain since June 5th, 2017

KSE-100 gained more than 1000 points today highest since 5th June, 2017 a day (market day) after the MSCI inclusion. The markets have been crippled by the ongoing political instability in the country.

The markets have crippled with the ongoing changes in the political landscape in Pakistan. The case has moved on from the Joint Investigation Team into the Supreme Court. The Prime Minister has resisted the demands from various political parties across Pakistan. The recent revelations regarding Nawaz Sharif’s foreign assets have changed the dynamics of the case as political pundits have asked Premier to resign. However, the ruling party has resisted the calls by challenging the case in the Supreme Courts citing various reasons regarding the inadmissibility of JIT’s reports.

The value traded amounted to 158 million during the intra-day session

Market added a total of 1113.15 points or a gain of 2.50% during today’s session. The index touched an intra-day low of 44517.06 points, a high of 45669.06 and closed at a tally of 45636.36 points.

The net gainers by price during today’s session were; Phillip Morris Pakistan PMPK +125.85, Sanofi-Aventis Pakistan Limited SAPL 47.49+, Service Industries Limited SRVI +45.00, Hinopak Motors Limited HINO +45.00 and Archroma Pakistan ARPL +34.00.

The net decliners by price during today’s session were; Bata Pakistan BATA -73.00, Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan COLG -55.00, Bhanero Textile Mills BHAT -45.00, Faisal Spinning Mills FASM -15.65 and The Climax Engineering Company Limited CECL -13.38.

All Share Volume increased by 36.85 Million to 112.13 Million Shares.

Total companies traded were 372 compared to 356 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 296 closed up, 66 closed down while 10 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 25,982 to 70,666.

Value Traded decreased by 1.77 Billion to Rs.5.95 Billion
