July-Aug FY2017-18 repatriation payments on Total Foreign Investments increase 63% YoY

A release by State Bank of Pakistan revealed that, total Dividend payments/Profits 332 mill USD during Jul-Aug, FY18. Dividend payments of Total FDI went up by 63% during the year, compared to total amount OF 204 mill USD during July-Aug FY17.

Sector wise Oil and Gas Exploration, Power (Thermal, Hydel), Petroleum Refining, Communications (Telecommunications), Transport Equipment (Car) yielded most profits for Foreign Investors during the July-Aug FY17.

Financials led the table, with more than 90 million USD payouts in form of dividends/profits during the FY2017-18.

Dividend payout on Power amounted to 82.6 mill USD; out of which 57 million on Thermal Power Generation, 23 million on Hydel Power Gen whereas the rest came from Coal Generation related Investments.

Second in line came Petroleum Refining with a generating payments on Total Foreign Investment of 47.3 million USD during July-August 2018.Oil and Gas Exploration also yielded lucrative profits for the investments, with a net of 20 million USD during the period under review.

Pharma and Auto sector performed well in the first two months, resulting in a net of 27.7 million USD payouts on Total Foreign Investment.

Foreign Investments in Telecoms sector helped investor book decent gains as well, with net profit of 40.3 million USD exclusively in the Telecommunications sector, with 2.1 million USD gains from Information Technology.

Chemicals and Food Packaging also gave out decent payments on Investment, with a combined result of 29.3 million USD.
