PSX Index began the day on a negative trend continuing yesterday’s fall, however went on to gain more than 370 points in the second session post Namaz break.
Markets have been down for the last few weeks as politics, international relations and fundamentals of the local economy continue to take their toll on the economy.
The markets were mixed today as they fell in the first session whereas picked up a positive momentum in the second half.
In today’s corporate alerts; Unilever Pakistan, Sanofi-Aventis Pakistan, Summit Bank Ltd., Phillip Morris Pakistan, Avanceon Ltd., Askari General Insurance, Highnoon Laboratories, Agritech Ltd., MCB Bank Ltd., Habib Insurance Co. Ltd., Century Insurance Co., and Dawood Lawrencepur & Zil Limited announced financial results for the quarter, half year and year ended June 2017.
MCB Bank Ltd. witnessed a 60 percent increase in Total net mark-up/interest income and profits for the period increased by 28 percent.
Unilever Pakistan Foods also announced results for the period ending June, 2017. The company’s Sales for the period increased by 14 percent whereas Profit for the period increased by 35 percent in the period.
Also, in other news Bank ALfalah GHP announced that due to disagreement over acquisition of voting shares, ICI Pakistan has withdrawn the offer to acquire voting shares of Linde Pakistan
KSE-100 Index at the day end gained a total of 373.13 points, closing at 42641.75 points. Index touched an intraday high of 42784.72 points whereas touching an intraday low of 41836.10.
In percentage terms, index was up by 0.88%.
