Closing Bell – Index Down 0.96 Percent

The index performance continues to be volatile in the ongoing week. The investors were cautious as to how the market would behave tomorrow with respect to the appearance of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s appearance before the JIT.

Furthermore, the markets also received the news of Shehbaz Sharif’s summoning by the JIT today.

The market’s opened on a high note as it continues to present a lucrative investment opportunity for the investors who see the current market position to be undervalued and aim to take advantage of the situation. However, by the end of the session market performance continued to dip downward as more than 72% of the scrips ended the session in red.

The session witnessed a cumulative decline of 462.40 points or a 0.96%percent.

The index touched an intra-day high of 48601.75 and a low of 47484.85 points, and closed at a tally of 47608.64 points.

The net gainers during today’s session were; Rafhan Maize Products Limited RMPL +0.70%, Indus Motor Company Limited INDU +0.86%, Shifa International Hospitals SHFA +3.23%, Tandlianwala Sugar Mills Limited TSML +4.00% and EFU Life Insurance EFUL +3.15%.

The net decliners during the session were; Hinopak Motors Limited HINO -3.17%, Mari Petroleum Company Limited MARI -2.59%, Wyeth Pakistan Limited WYETH -1.83%, Service Industries Limited SRVI -2.86% and Millat Tractors Limited MTL -2.60%.

All Share Volume decreased by 61.63 Million to 255.54 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.91.54 Billion.

Total companies traded were 361 compared to 378 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 76 closed up, 267 closed down while 18 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 22,835 to 63,585.

Value Traded decreased by 4.52 Billion to Rs.10.43 Billion
